The National Association of Municipalities of Albania in public consultation with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection on the Draft Law “On Gender Equality”

After reviewing the draft and consulting with municipalities, #SHKBSH presented today concrete recommendations to strengthen the role of local government in the effective implementation of the principles of gender equality at all levels of government.

Some of the main proposals include:

Representation of the UGSA in the National Council for Gender Equality

Periodic reporting and monitoring by municipalities on the implementation of legislation

Ensuring equal gender representation (30–50%) in decision-making structures

Collection and reporting of gender data at the local level

Mandatory training for local staff on gender equality

Gender equality is not just an objective, but a concrete commitment to a more just and inclusive society.

Local government has a key role in making this reality tangible for every citizen!
