The National Association of Municipalities of Albania participated in the 5th Forum of Women Mayors in Southeast Europe
On 1–2 October 2025, in Istanbul, the Fifth Forum of Women Mayors in Southeast Europe is taking place, organized by the Network of Associations of Local Authorities of Southeast Europe (NALAS) and the Union of Marmara Municipalities (MMU).
The Forum brings together women mayors and chairmen of municipal councils from 12 countries in the region to discuss:
Strengthening women’s leadership at the local level.
Increasing their participation in local governance.
The role of women in promoting peace and gender equality.
Alignment with regional and global agendas, including the Berlin Process and the UN Agenda 2030.
The Association is participating in this forum represented by Ms. Majlinda Bufi, Mayor of Roskovec, Ms. Eriselda Sefa, Mayor of Lushnje, Ms. Festime Mjeshtri, Mayor of Bulqizë and Ms. Adelina Farrici, Executive Director of the Albanian Local Government Association. In the panel “The Berlin Process and EU Integration – What it means for Local Government”, Ms. Sefa highlighted Albania’s perspective on the role of local government in the European integration process.
This representation demonstrates the Association’s commitment to strengthening the role of women in local government and to contributing to the advancement of gender equality in Albania and the region.
