In the 2nd edition of the “National Forum for Local Democracy – Mapping the Future: Local Democracy in Albania 2026”, which brought together leaders from central and local levels, international partners, representatives of civil society and interest groups.
This year’s forum served as an important dialogue platform to discuss the challenges and priorities of local governance, with a particular focus on the European integration process🇪🇺, administrative-territorial reform🇦🇱 and the advancement of decentralization. Panelists shared concrete practices and discussed current challenges, emphasizing the need for stronger inter-institutional coordination and broader involvement of local actors.
This platform aims to continue to produce clear and actionable recommendations, contributing to building stronger, more accountable and better prepared municipalities for the challenges of European integration and improving the quality of services for citizens across the country.
The National Forum for Local Democracy is organized by the National Association of Municipalities of Albania (NAMA), with the technical and financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation Swiss Development & Cooperation 🇨🇭, the Government of Sweden 🇸🇪 and the Strong Municipalities project
