Spahiu completed his higher education at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Tirana, while for years Rahim Spahiu has been working as a director of an important bank in the country. He has opened and managed several branches of this bank in Tirana. Spahiu is originally from Dibra and lives in Tirana.

Until the 2000s, he worked in a private bank in the city of Peshkopia and had very good acquaintances and relationships with the residents of this area.
