The new municipality of Mirdita lies in a territory with a diverse cultural and ethnographic heritage, while its subsoil is also rich in minerals. Mirdita gained importance as a passageway and as a natural gateway to Kosovo, after the construction of the A1 highway. Mirdita is a mainly agricultural and livestock area, while viticulture represents the most competitive production activity, with a secure and very attractive market for the country, the region and beyond. The area of forests in the municipality of Mirdita is 10 times larger than the agricultural land fund. For this reason, the ecological problems of the area, such as wood processing, forest fruit processing, vitamin juice production and the development of sport hunting are related to the forests.
