The new municipality of Roskovec borders the municipality of Lushnje to the north and west, the municipality of Mallakastër to the south, the municipality of Ura Vajgurore to the east, and the municipality of Patos to the west. The capital of the municipality is the city of Roskovec. According to the 2011 Census, the new municipality of Roskovec has 21,742 inhabitants, while the registered population in the Civil Registry is 31,548 inhabitants. The new municipality has an area of ​​118.01 km2. This municipality consists of 4 administrative units. The new municipality has one city and 14 villages under its administration. The new municipality of Roskovec lies partly on the Patos-Marinza oilfield, which is known as the largest oil field in continental Europe. Part of the new municipality will be the commune of Kurjan, which also includes the village of Marinzë, which is particularly known as an oilfield. Under these conditions, the main income of the residents comes from this sector, in which many of the residents of the area are employed. As for rural areas, income is mainly earned from agricultural products and citrus fruits.
