The new municipality of Delvina borders the municipalities of Himara and Gjirokastër to the north, Saranda and Finiq to the south, and Dropull to the east. The capital of the municipality is the city of Delvina. According to the 2011 Census, the new municipality has 7,598 inhabitants, while according to the Civil Registry this municipality has a population of 18,078 people. The new municipality has an area of 182.9 km2. The population density is 99 inhabitants/ km2. This municipality consists of 2 administrative units. The new municipality has under its administration one city and 17 villages. The new municipality consists of the historical city of Delvina and the commune of Vergo, part of the Delvina district. The city has a tradition in handicrafts as well as cultural heritage sites. The municipality of Delvina also has a gas field on its territory, which is currently exploited by a private concession company. Unlike the city of Delvina, the municipality of Vergo is a vast rural area with low population density. Agriculture, livestock and viticulture, in addition to public institutions, are the main economic resources of the area.
