The new municipality of Divjaka borders the municipality of Rrogozhina to the north, the municipality of Lushnje to the east, the municipality of Fier to the south and the Adriatic Sea to the west. The capital of the municipality is the city of Divjaka. According to the 2011 Census, the municipality of Divjaka has a population of 34,254 inhabitants, while the civil registry shows a population of 53,372 inhabitants. The territory of the new municipality is 309.58 km2 and with a population density of 172.40 inhabitants/km2. This municipality consists of 5 administrative units. The new municipality has one city and 36 villages under its administration. The municipality of Divjaka consists almost entirely of rural areas. The new municipality has a north-south extension, while the roads are mostly in the east-west direction and the road connection between the city of Divjaka and the municipalities of Gradishte and Rremas. The new municipality is located in a completely rural and fertile area, while part of the territory of this municipality is also the Divjaka-Karavasta National Park, as well as the Divjaka beach. The new municipality has a main economic activity in agriculture and to a lesser extent fishing in the Karavasta lagoon. The main agricultural product is melons, which are sold on the domestic market and exported to many countries in Central and Eastern Europe. Divjaka has good prospects for the development of marine tourism and ecotourism. In recent years, bird watching tourism has emerged here due to the presence of a small colony of endangered pelicans in the Karavasta lagoon. Tourism has developed mostly for day tourists and the cuisine is focused on fish products, for which the area is famous throughout the country.
