The new municipality of Konispol borders the municipality of Finiq to the north, Saranda to the west and Greece to the south. The capital of the municipality is the city of Konispol. The new municipality consists of 3 Administrative Units. According to the 2011 Census, the new municipality of Konispol has a population of 8,245 inhabitants, while according to the civil registry it has 13,737 inhabitants. The area of ​​the new municipality is 221.88 km2 and with a density of 61.91 inhabitants/km2. The constituent administrative units are: Konispol, Xarrë and Markat. The main economic activity of the new municipality of Konispol is agriculture and livestock farming as well as cross-border trade with Greece. A part of the population serves in the transport sector for tourist purposes in Saranda or for cross-border transport. Agriculture is focused on argums, olives and vineyards while the area is also famous for winter pastures for small livestock. In the village of Xarë a joint community effort has created a very successful cooperative focused on citrus production.
