Following the proceedings of the Joint Consultative Committee (JCC), the discussions of the mayors of Albanian municipalities provided a significant contribution to the reflection on the role that municipalities have in the integration processes and the approximation with the policies of the European Union.
The mayors Mr. Gledian Llatja, Mr. Fisnik Qosja, Ms. Emiriana Sako, Ms. Majlinda Bufi, Ms. Eriselda Sefa, Mr. Flamur Golemi, Mr. Erion Isai, Ms. Festime Mjeshtri, Mr. Hill Curri and Ms. Alma Hoxha emphasized the importance of a sustainable and coordinated representation of local government at European tables.
They shared concrete experiences from the cities they represent, highlighting the challenges and opportunities that come from engaging in the integration process and the importance of inter-institutional cooperation for sustainable local development.
The voice of municipalities in this forum is an important step to give more weight to local decision-making in line with EU standards and priorities.
