The National Association of Municipalities of Albania #SHKBSH, with the support of GIZ Albania, organized today a roundtable on subsidy mechanisms and the implementation of GPS technology for improving public transport services.

The meeting opened with the welcoming speech of Ms. Adelina Farrici, Executive Director of #SHKBSH, and Mr. Christian Mettke, Project Manager at GIZ Albania who emphasized the importance of joint commitment to bring innovation and higher standards in public transport in Albania.

John Barry, Former Director of Bus Network Development at Transport for London, brought his experience to bear on the reasons why subsidies are offered, their connection to the performance and quality of bus service, as well as the concrete effects that these measures have had on improving the passenger experience in London.

The meeting closed with open discussions, concrete proposals for further cooperation and the aim to advance the implementation of these modern practices in all municipalities in the country.
