Today, the National Association of Municipalities of Albania (SHKBSH), in collaboration with the Strong Municipalities project, organized a meeting to present and discuss the findings of the National Survey on Preschool Education 2025.
The meeting was attended by leaders from #AMVV, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Education and Sports, Save the Children Albania and the BtF project, within the framework of the Inter-institutional Working Group.
The findings highlighted important achievements, such as:
improving service in meeting service standards;
the importance of cooperation and coordination with local government, especially in relation to the legal framework;
the necessity for improving service standards to be accompanied by the transfer of relevant finances.
At the same time, challenges were highlighted in terms of:
Providing qualified staff, especially for social workers and psychologists;
Using the “Teachers for Albania” portal to find qualified staff;
Adapting infrastructure for children with disabilities.
SHKBSH reaffirmed its leading role in inter-institutional coordination, supporting municipalities and promoting territorial equality in the provision of preschool education services. The main recommendations focus on infrastructure investments, strengthening human resources, increasing the budget and strengthening inter-institutional cooperation to improve the quality of preschool education in Albania.
This activity was supported by the Strong Municipalities project, of the @Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation SDC Embassy of Switzerland in Albania and Embassy of Sweden in Tirana, and implemented by Helvetas.
