Women in Leadership – Together for a stronger voice in decision-making!
Today we organized the next meeting of the “Women in Leadership” Network, together with the network chairwoman Ms. Majlinda Bufi, the co-chairwoman of the National Association of Municipalities of Albania Ms. Emiriana Sako, mayors and councils, as well as with the participation of high-ranking representatives of donors and experts in the field.
The meeting was organized by the National Association of Municipalities of Albania in cooperation with the Strong Municipalities Project funded by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Embassy of Switzerland in Albania and Embassy of Sweden in Tirana, and implemented by Helvetas
During the discussions:
We emphasized the importance of cooperation between women at the local level to strengthen their role in decision-making.
We highlighted the positive trend of networking and solidarity among women leaders.
We discussed the achievements and priorities of the Network.
We addressed legal developments and local government obligations regarding gender-based violence.
We agreed on the annual activity plan, with concrete initiatives and clear steps forward.
We all agreed to undertake concrete joint initiatives, strengthening coordination between municipalities and ensuring that gender equality priorities are translated into real actions at the local level.
This activity aims to further strengthen women’s leadership at the local level and advance sustainable local policies for gender equality.
Cooperation among women is not just an option – it is a necessity for fairer, more inclusive and stronger governance.
