🌱 In the framework of the commitments for climate neutral cities, the conference “Elbasan 2030 – Delivering the Climate City Contract” was held in 📍Elbasan, focusing on the vision, priorities and concrete mechanisms for the implementation of this model at the local level.
📌 The first day of the conference focused on political commitment and strategic approaches for the implementation of the Climate City Contract. In Panel 3 – National Platforms for Climate Neutral Cities, governance models and coordination mechanisms were discussed, with the aim of building a functional national platform to support municipalities in this process.
In this panel, the Executive Director of the National Association of Municipalities of Albania, Ms. Adelina Farrici, brought the perspective of local government, emphasizing:
✔️ the importance of strengthening inter-institutional coordination
✔️ the need for a structured approach at the national level
✔️ direct support for municipalities in the transition towards climate neutrality
📌 The second day brought into focus concrete experiences and local practices. In the Mayors’ Panel – Session 3, the approximation of the Climate City Contract model in Albania was discussed, assessing the readiness of municipalities and identifying the main pillars of this transformation.
