🏛️ In Brussels, at the Joint Consultative Council (JCC) where the next meeting was held with a focus on the new Administrative-Territorial Reform and the next steps to strengthen local government in the country.
👥 The meeting was held with the participation of Minister Mr. Ervin Demo, Mayor Mr. Gledian Llatja, Co-Chair of the JCC, members of the mayoral committee Ms. Emiriana Sako and Ms. Eriselda Sefa, the President of the Elbasan County Council, Ms. Ermira Urupi and Ms. Adelina Farrici, Executive Director of #SHKBSH.
💬 The discussions focused on assessing the achievements and challenges of the 2015 reform, emphasizing the need for a new reform based on the principles of decentralization, financial autonomy of municipalities and strengthening local capacities.
🌍 SHKBSH representatives underlined the importance of exchanging regional experiences, improving services according to European standards and increasing municipalities’ access to EU funds. The need for investments in the digitalization of local government was also emphasized.
🤝 They also expressed gratitude for the support of Swiss Development & Cooperation, Embassy of Switzerland in Albania Embassy of Sweden in Tirana, the Strong Municipalities project and #NALAS, which have contributed to strengthening technical forums with the aim of drafting strategic documents for the development of local government.
