Pustec borders the municipalities of Pogradec and Maliq to the west, and the Republic of Macedonia to the north and east. The capital of the new municipality is the village of Pustec. According to the 2011 Census, the new municipality has 3,290 inhabitants, while according to the Civil Registry this municipality has a population of 5,191 inhabitants. The new municipality has an area of 198.68 km2. This municipality consists of 1 administrative unit. The new municipality has 9 villages under its administration. This municipality is populated by the Macedonian minority. Pustec is a favorable area for the development of summer tourism. The rich microclimate, Lake Prespa, beautiful panoramic views with a harmonious combination of landscape, traditional cuisine, old buildings on the shores of Lake Prespa from the 13th and 14th centuries, as well as the island of Maligrad are the main attractions of this. Lake Prespa, in addition to the natural beauty it offers, is also renowned for its rich flora and fauna.
